"We've got a subject here!" the doctor yells as he shoves a gurney through the still opening, metal sliding door, "Brain is near death, organs will start soon, so let's get him in the theater and get to work."
The man laying on the gurney, who up until that very moment was known as Eric Strauss, looks like he's died already. His face is cut up from glass shards, there is a noticeable crack in his skull, and dark bruising under the eyes; another sign of a severe skull fracture. The rest of his body is covered by a sheet, which even now has been soaked with blood.
Eric had been through a very severe run in with a drunk driver, which left his car a mangled piece of metal on the highway. The process of extracting him from the car took nearly 20 minutes as the firemen on scene had to carefully cut around the mess around him. During those 20 minutes, his brain began the slow spiral to death, but that was not important now; his brain was not needed for this, only his organs. In fact, the only reason he got 'volunteered' for this special surgery was because his brain was near death.
As the metal door slides closed behind the gurney, and the group of people surrounding it, Eric Strauss lost his identity. Anything that claimed he existed was being shredded, and Eric began life with a new name...Project X-409.
I mentioned in my first post that I would probably be posting sections of any book I may be writing. Well, over the weekend I started planning a new novel that I want to write and eventually self-publish on a site like Lulu. What I would like is to post what I am deeming the back cover synopsis, and perhaps get comments on the idea.
So without further ado: The synopsis.
The government thought they had created the perfect employee. A man that would not question his orders, nor would he even remember them the next day.
They took away his memories, they took away his family, they took away his life. They implanted their ideals, and their beliefs in him. They endowed him with the strength of a soldier that has spent years in training, but it only took a week to bring him into shape. The one thing that they forgot was that sometimes first generations of technology have problems.
This is the story of Project X409, an unwitting guinea pig for the government's newest technology, and his fight to get his life back, and take the lives of those who created him.
Like most things early on in the writing process, it needs some work, however, that's the general gist of the story and perhaps summarizes it better than I could trying to explain the story.
Note: The title is a working title, and subject to be changed at any time.
So, welcome to my site. I finally decided to set one up, and decided to use Vox because, well it's free and has some nifty features included.
So, what plans have I for this particular site? I would normally say something like: "I really don't know" but I actually have plans, which is pretty amazing for me. Now, you may be wondering what they are, and so here they are:
- Scenes for books as I write them -- With this I give you a warning: I do not write in order, ever. There is a possibility that by reading the scenes I post you will see the end of the book long before the beginning. I will try my best to either say "Hey, this may spoil something" or put links to the preceding sections in the post.
- Talk of software projects I'm working on. I'm a programmer by day, and programmers tend to sit down at the end of the day and write their own personal projects; I am no different.
- Tutorials and articles on various programming technologies.
- Lots and lots of ranting. I need an outlet now and then to bitch about things going on in my life, or just around me, and this may be a good outlet for aforementioned bitching.
- Anything else that may catch my fancy at any given moment in time.
So, hopefully you enjoy your stay, and what I post.
Oh, and remember, always know where your towel is, and always have a match or torch in your backpack.
